What is Good Friday?
Good Friday is a public holiday in every Australian state and territory. Its date is movable and falls two days before Easter Sunday.
The calendar calculates the Easter date once for each year and checks Good Friday against the official jurisdictional lists. It receives Australia-wide scope only because all eight lists include it.
Good Friday should not be used to infer the scope of Easter Saturday or Easter Sunday, whose public-holiday coverage differs between jurisdictions.
