What is Family Day?

Family Day is a statutory holiday on the third Monday of February in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and New Brunswick. Other provinces use different February-holiday names or have no equivalent statutory day.

Manitoba, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia appear separately as Louis Riel Day, Islander Day and Nova Scotia Heritage Day. Quebec and the territories are not added to this Family Day scope.

Keeping same-date holidays separate preserves their official names and legal sources instead of creating a fictional Canada-wide Family Day.
