What is Boxing Day?
Boxing Day is a bank holiday across all four UK nations with a nominal date of 26 December. GOV.UK publishes a substitute weekday when the nominal date falls at the weekend.
Observed-date handling must account for Christmas Day as well as Boxing Day. In 2027, the two weekend dates are observed on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December respectively.
